HELFORD RIVER MOORINGS
HELFORD RIVER MOORINGS OVERVIEW

HELFORD RIVER
Helford River Boats operate from a private Cornish beach on the magnificent Helford River from where they offer some of the most exclusive seasonal & temporary boat moorings in the whole of the British Isles.
For those of you not familiar with this Cornish beauty spot, the Helford River is a large estuary that nestles between the western edge of Falmouth Bay and the eastern side of the Lizard Peninsula in west Cornwall.
The Helford River It is renowned for its scenic beauty, historic past and marine ecology making it a popular destination for boat owners. The Helford River shoreline is approximately 31 miles in length providing an abundance of quiet Cornish beaches and villages to explore. Daphne Du Maurier immortalised one of Helford River’s creeks in her novel Frenchman’s Creek which is the smallest of three, the other two being Port Navas & Polwheveral.

LEISURE ACTIVITIES
The Helford River provides an excellent base for our Helford River Boats leisure activities including water sports, kayak hire & paddleboarding hire, boat hire and our 90-minute river tour aboard the unique and rare Dyson Sea Truck!
Choosing the Helford River to moor your boat is an ideal solution as it’s sheltered from most winds which is why the Helford River has become home to boat owners of all types and sizes.
Apart from the Helford River’s extensive history and beauty, its location is what sets it apart. Helford River Moorings are positioned between Helford Passage and Helford Village which is exactly 2.48 miles east of the river mouth which leads directly into Falmouth Bay. It is also the gateway, traveling east, up the Cornish coast to Fowey and beyond or west to the many coves which flank the Lizard peninsular and on to St Michaels Mount and Penzance Bay.

A GATEWAY TO EUROPE
Within Falmouth Bay itself are the sandy beaches of Maenporth, Swanpool and Gyllyngvase. Then comes Falmouth harbour, steeped in history and the third largest natural deep water port in the world after Sydney & Rio De Janeiro and lies on the eastern end of the bay on the Fal estuary.
Across from the harbour entrance and Pendennis Castle you can choose between the upscale hamlet of St Mawes with its sheltered habour and popular beach or into the wide waterway known as Carrick Roads which leads to Mylor Churchtown, Restronguet Creek with the famous Pandora Inn, St Just in Roseland and on up past the King Harry Ferry to Coombe, Malpas and eventually Truro when tides allow. The bay has also become home to large pods of dolphins and blue fin tuna are now being caught under licence in the summer months 2-3 miles further offshore.
